Murree Trip: Car Rental Tips

What to book, what to avoid, and how to plan a smooth mountain drive.

Murree rewards planning. Fog, weekend congestion on the main Mall Road corridor, and steep approaches mean the car you choose matters as much as the hotel you book.

For most families, a Fortuner, Prado, or similar SUV is the safe pick — especially in winter or monsoon when wet roads demand better grip and ground clearance. In clear summer weather, a Corolla or Civic can manage the main highway, but an SUV is more comfortable with luggage.

Leave Islamabad early. Mid-morning departures often meet slow traffic near Sunny Bank and the upper stretches. Keep cash for parking and small purchases; card acceptance can be patchy on peak weekends.

Avoid overloading the boot and roof if you are driving yourself. Mountain grades and sudden brakes are easier on a well-balanced vehicle. If you prefer not to drive the hills, book a chauffeur — our drivers know alternate loops when Mall Road is gridlocked.

Return the car with the agreed fuel level and note any scratches at handover. Mountain trips get dusty; a quick walk-around video at pickup and return protects both sides.
